Official Rules

“Cub Reporter” Sweepstakes

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Void where prohibited.  By entering, each entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these Official Rules.  Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification.

SPONSOR. “Cub Reporter” (“Sweepstakes”) is sponsored by WBND, ABC57 (“Sponsor”), which is solely responsible for the conduct of this Sweepstakes.

HOW TO ENTER. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or to win this Sweepstakes.  The Sweepstakes begins Thursday, 4/23/26 at 5:00PM (EST) through Monday, 8/31/26 at 5:00PM (EST) (the “Entry Period”) unless extended by Sponsor.  Sponsor reserves the right to extend the Sweepstakes at any time and will provide notice by updating these Official Rules.  Entrants may enter this Sweepstakes by clicking on the entry portal link at  ABC57 Cub Reporter 2026 or abc57.com. All entrants will be required to provide their complete name, phone number, and/or email address or other required information.  Sponsor will keep all entrants’ personal information confidential unless disclosure is required by law.

Limit one entry per person, household address, email address or IP address during the Entry Period.  All entries submitted online will be considered made by the authorized account holder of the email address. Entrants are permitted to win up to one (1) time during the Entry Period. Duplicate or multiple entries will be disqualified. Use of any automated entry software is prohibited.  All entries become the property of Sponsor, and Sponsor reserves the right to use any information submitted by entrants.  Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, misdirected or mutilated entries, including due to technical/network failures, human error, or any other error or malfunction.

For online entries, entrants agree not to upload, post, or transmit any materials that contain any computer viruses, Easter eggs, worms, Trojan Horses or other harmful component or programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information.  Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and the Sponsor reserves the rights to seek damages from any person who makes such attempt(s). Entrants also agree not to provide or upload any content which is defamatory, threatening, distasteful, racist, unlawful or otherwise objectionable.

Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void.  Any questions regarding the number of entries submitted by an individual or authorized account holder of an e-mail address shall be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, and Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Sweepstakes.

ELIGIBILITY. The Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of the South Bend-Elkhart television viewing area (as defined by Nielsen) who are 18 years of age or older, and are the parent or legal guardian of a child aged 8 to 15 years. Employees and former employees of 'WBND, ABC57,' Weigel Broadcasting Co,, South Bend Cubs, their advertising agencies, consultants, franchisees, and suppliers, (collectively, “Sweepstakes Parties”) are not eligible to enter or win, nor are such employees’ family members.  In addition, individuals who share a common household with an employee of a Sweepstakes Party or who are in any kind of domestic relationship or partnership with an employee of a Sweepstakes Party (e.g., boyfriends, girlfriends, fiancé, roommates) are not eligible to enter or win this Sweepstakes.  By entering this Sweepstakes, entrants agree to abide by all terms of these Official Rules and to be bound by the decisions of the Sponsor.  The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and is void where prohibited or where registration, bonding, or language translation is required. 

RANDOM SWEEPSTAKES DRAWING. Nine (9) winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries using a computer software winner selection tool.  One (1) winner will be selected each week before the South Bend Cubs home series games identified on Appendix A (each, a “Game”). Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received.  A purchase of Sponsor’s products will not increase the odds of winning.  For each Game, one (1) winner will be contacted to be notified that they are a winner for the upcoming Game on or around the date set forth on Appendix A.  Winners will be notified by e-mail. Winners will receive an e-mail and in the e-mail, the winner will receive instructions detailing the necessary steps to claim the prize.  The prize will be emailed to the winner from WBND, ABC57. Winner(s) must meet all eligibility requirements including the execution and delivery of all necessary releases.  If any attempted notification is not successful within three (3) days of the first notification, the prize will be forfeited and Sponsor reserves the right to randomly select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries.

PRIZES. NINE (9) GRAND PRIZES will be awarded. Each winner will receive the opportunity for a child aged 8 to 15 years for whom they are the parent or legal guardian to be ABC57’s Cub Reporter of the Day at the Game, interview a South Bend Cubs player with a member of the ABC 57 News team, and appear during an ABC57 Newscast, which has no retail value.  In addition, each winner will receive a VIP experience for four (4), including four (4) tickets to the Game, one (1) $25 food and beverage credit, a South Bend Cubs swag bag, a photograph with a South Bend Cubs player, and a game ball, which together have a total approximate retail value of $120 USD.  Approximate retail value of all prizes to be awarded is $1080.00 USD.  Prizes may not be exchanged or redeemed for cash, sold, or traded.   

PRIZE RESTRICTIONS & CONDITIONS.  Prizes are non-transferable and subject to terms and conditions of the Sweepstakes Parties.  There will be no substitute or cash redemption awarded to the Sweepstakes winners.  If winner is unable to attend the Game for any reason, the prize will be forfeited in its entirety and no substitute prize, cash alternative, or other compensation will be provided.  Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded.

Winner(s) will be solely responsible for any and all local, state, and federal taxes, as well as any license and registration or other fees incurred by participation in the Sweepstakes, including but not limited to transportation costs, gratuities and other items of an incidental nature.  Sponsor will report any individual winnings over $600 (in cash or fair market value of goods or services) in a one-year period to the Internal Revenue Service.  Winner(s) will receive a Form 1099 from Sponsor if Sponsor reports any winnings to the Internal Revenue Service.

CONDITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS APPLY. Winner(s) must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements.  Proof of U.S. residency, age, and identity are required to claim a prize.  Winner(s) are subject to verification by Sponsor, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters related to the Sweepstakes.  An entrant is not a winner of any prize unless and until entrant’s eligibility has been verified and entrant has been notified that verification is complete.  In the event that a winner is determined to be ineligible or fails to respond to Sponsor within three (3) days of notification, the Prize will be forfeited and Sponsor reserves the right to randomly select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries.  Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the Sweepstakes without awarding the prizes if no eligible winner(s) or alternate winner(s) claim the prizes within the required time period.

Winners will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability, Publicity Release and Letter of Indemnification within three (3) days of notification of being a winner.  In the event that a winner fails to execute and return a liability release and affidavit of eligibility [except where prohibited] within three (3) days of notice of winning, their prize may be forfeited and Sponsor may randomly select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries.  If a winner fails to claim their Prize within three (3) days, it will result in the forfeiture of the Prize and a new drawing may be held from the remaining eligible entries at the sole discretion of Sponsor.

By entering, the winner is consenting to the use of their name, likeness, and/or biographical information, as well as the name, likeness, and/or biographical information of their child participating as ABC57’s Cub Reporter of the Day, for advertising and promotional purposes without additional consideration, including any in-studio appearances, unless prohibited by law.  Names and e-mail addresses of Sweepstakes entrants may also be used for future marketing solicitations by Sponsor, unless the entrants opts out of such marketing uses [if applicable].

Sponsor explicitly disclaims any and all warranties of any kind, including but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.  The Sponsor and/or Sweepstakes Parties shall not be liable or responsible for those guarantees or warranties made or offered by advertisers, partners, manufacturers or suppliers, including those related to the Prize.  Under no circumstances shall Sponsor be held responsible or liable for use of the information and/or products supplied and/or made available through the promotion or for errors or anomalies resulting in the unintended or erroneous participation, award of any prize or other benefits under the jurisdiction of these sweepstakes rules.

LIMITATION ON LIABILITY. By participating in this Sweepstakes, all entrants and prize winners agree that Sponsor’s subsidiaries and affiliates and each of such entities’ respective officers, directors, agents and employees are not responsible or liable for any injury, loss, illness, litigation or damage arising from or in connection with Sweepstakes or acceptance, possession, use or misuse of prize.  In the event that any dispute arises regarding the meaning or interpretation of these Official Rules, entrants agree that the dispute shall be resolved by applying the laws of Indiana and that it shall be resolved by and within the state or federal courts of that state.

Sponsor will not be responsible for lost, late, damaged, defaced, incomplete, stolen, illegible, indiscernible, mutilated, illegally obtained, postage due or misdirected entries, or for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Sweepstakes, or announcement of the prize and/or all Sweepstakes-related materials.  Sponsor offers no assurances, warranties, or guarantees that the promotion in any media, including but not limited to on-air, text/mobile phones and websites, will be uninterrupted or error-free and does not promise the accuracy or reliability of any information obtained through this Sweepstakes.  Sponsor will not be liable, and is not responsible, for damages of any sort connected to participation in or inability/failure to participate in the Sweepstakes, whether the damages are direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential.

SPONSOR’S RESERVATION OF RIGHTS.  These Official Rules are subject to modification by Sponsor.  In the event of a dispute, all decisions made by Sponsor are final and binding.  Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any person who tampers with or abuses the entry process, or who otherwise acts in violation of these Official Rules.  In the event of a computer, telephone failure, or any other circumstances beyond the control of Sponsor, where it becomes impracticable to award one or more Prizes, or due to force majeure or non-authorized human intervention that compromises or affects the administration, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Sweepstakes, Sponsor may, in its sole and absolute discretion, determine not to award any such Prize or cancel, terminate, or modify this Sweepstakes.

PRIVACY POLICY/DISCLOSURES OF INFORMATION. Sponsor may collect and use personal information that entrants provide to enter the Sweepstakes to actually conduct the Sweepstakes and contact the potential winner(s).  Personal information includes any information that can be reasonably linked to a specific individual, including name, postal address, and telephone number.  Sponsor (including any successors or assigns) may use names and e-mail addresses of Sweepstakes entrants for future marketing solicitations by Sponsor, unless the entrant opts out of such marketing uses.  Otherwise, no personal information that Sponsor collects in connection with the administration of the Sweepstakes will be sold or given to anyone who may contact entrants for any purpose not related to the sweepstakes [if applicable].  If a Prize winner chooses to submit a photo to the WBND staff, they do so understanding that photos may be used at the sole discretion of the WBND teams – including on-air, online and social media promotional purposes.  Sponsor’s complete privacy policy can be located at: www.abc57.com.
