Sweepstakes Rules
‘The Jolly Jam Gift Train’ Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”)
November 27 – December 22, 2017

SPONSOR: This Sweepstakes is sponsored by ‘WCIU, The U,’ whose corporate address is 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, Illinois 60661 (the "Sponsor").

ENTRY. A purchase is not required to enter or win one (1) of four (4) runner up prizes of a $100 gift card or one (1) Grand Prize of 19 daily items on The Jolly Jam Gift Train, the total Grand Prize value is $5,000. The Sweepstakes begins Monday, November 27, 2017 at 6:00 AM and ends Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 12:00PM (“Sweepstakes Period”) unless extended by ‘WCIU, The U.’ To participate, viewers must watch the ‘The Jam’ weekdays beginning 6:00 AM through 8:00 AM during the Sweepstakes Period on ‘WCIU, The U’ for their chance to enter. Two (2) unique Code Words will be shown two (2) times during the course of the show in the sweepstakes period, one (1) time between 6:00 - 7:00 AM, and one (1) time between 7:00 – 8:00AM. To enter the Sweepstakes, viewers must text the correct daily Code Word to the five (5) digit short code via text message that is shown on air by 11:59PM, November 27, 2017 – December 20, 2017 and by Noon on December 21, 2017. Only one (1) entry per person, per Code Word, per day will be accepted. Five (5) finalists will be drawn at random from all eligible entries by a computer selection tool on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 12:05PM Central.  One (1) grand prize winner will be selected from the five (5) Finalists, on-air in a live, random drawing during ‘The Jam’ on Friday, December 22, 2017 between 6-8A.  The one (1) selected Finalist will receive the Grand Prize of The Jolly Jam Gift Train valued at $5000 and the remaining four (4) Finalists will each receive a runner up prizes of the $100 gift card.

Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, illegible, misdirected or mutilated entries, including due to technical/network failures, human error, or any other error or malfunction. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void.

Entrants agree not to upload, post or transmit any materials which contain any computer viruses, Easter eggs, worms, Trojan Horses or other harmful component or programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and Sponsor reserves the rights to seek damages from any person who makes such attempt(s).

Any questions regarding the number of entries submitted by an individual or authorized account holder of an e-mail address shall be determined by Weigel Broadcasting Co. in its sole discretion, and Weigel Broadcasting Co. reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Sweepstakes.

ELIGIBILITY. The Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of Illinois who live in the Chicago DMA, as defined by Nielsen, and are age 18 years or older. Employees of ‘WCIU, The U,’ Weigel Broadcasting Co., Sears Holdings Management Corporation and any of its affiliates, their advertising agencies, consultants, franchisees, suppliers, (collectively, “Sweepstakes Parties”), family members are not eligible to enter or win. In addition, individuals who share a common household with an employee of a Sweepstakes Party or who are in any kind of domestic relationship or partnership with an employee of a Sweepstakes Party(e.g., boyfriends, girlfriends, fiancé, roommates, domestic partnerships) are not eligible to enter or win this Sweepstakes. Sponsor shall be the sole judge of what constitutes a domestic relationship or partnership in the event of a dispute.  In order to be named a semi-finalist, entrants must be able to come to WCIU, The U 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, IL, 60661 for the live broadcast of The Jam on Friday, December 22, 2017 between 6-8AM.  If the selected entrant is not available to come to WCIU, The U, they are ineligible to win a Finalist prize or the Grand Prize and an alternate Finalist will be selected at random from all eligible entries by computer selection tool.  If an entrant is selected as a Finalist and agrees to come in to be on The Jam on Friday, December 22, but does not arrive by 6AM they will forfeit their Finalist prize and their chance at being the Grand Prize winner.  No alternate Finalist will be selected in the case of “no shows” on Friday, December 22, 2017.

PRIZES. Four (4) Finalists will win the Runner Up Prize, a $100 gift card, valued at $100. One (1) Grand Prize Winner will win the 19 days of prizes on The Jolly Jam Train, valued at a total of $5,000.  Odds of winning will be determined by the total number of eligible entries for each distinct Code Word. Once notified via a phone call to the phone number used to text the Code Word, the winners will have 3 hours to claim their position as Finalist. If an entrant fails to claim their position as Finalist, it will result in the forfeiture of the Runner Up prize and potential to be the Grand Prize winner.  A new drawing may be held from the remaining eligible entries at the discretion of ‘WCIU, The U.’ Prize winners must possess a valid picture ID to claim their Prize. Runner Up and Grand Prize will be awarded live on air during The Jam on Friday, December 22, 2017. 

PRIZE RESTRICTIONS. These Prizes are non-transferable and are subject to all terms & conditions specified by Weigel Broadcasting Co. There will be no substitute or cash redemption awarded to any Sweepstakes winners. All prizes will be awarded in person on Friday, December 22, 2017. All income and other taxes are the responsibility of the winners. By entering, the winners are consenting to the use of their name, likeness, and/or biographical information for advertising and promotional purposes without additional consideration.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY. Winner is responsible for income and other taxes on the Grand Prize. All finalists will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability, and Letter of Indemnification on Friday, December 22, 2017 before going on the live broadcast of The Jam on Friday, December 22, 2107. Prize winners must complete a W9 form and submit a copy of a valid form of government issued identification. Failure to comply with the rules and conditions of the Sweepstakes may result in a forfeiture of Runner Up or Grand Prize.

‘WCIU, The U’ and Sears Holdings Management Corporation and any of its affiliates, in future references known as the Sweepstakes Parties, explicitly disclaim any and all warranties of any kind, including but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The Sponsor and/or Sweepstakes Parties shall not be liable or responsible for those guarantees or warranties made or offered by advertisers, partners, manufacturers or suppliers, including those related to the Prize. Under no circumstances shall the Sponsor and/or Sweepstakes Parties be held responsible or liable for use of the information and/or products supplied and/or made available through the promotion or for errors or anomalies resulting in the unintended or erroneous participation, award of any Prize or other benefits under the jurisdiction of these Sweepstakes rules.

The Sponsor and Sweepstakes Parties offer no assurances, warranties, or guarantees that the promotion in any media, including but not limited to on air, text/mobile phones and websites, will be uninterrupted or error-free and do not promise the accuracy or reliability of any information obtained through this Sweepstakes. The Sponsor and Sweepstakes Parties will not be liable, and are not responsible, for damages of any sort connected to participation in or inability/failure to participate in the sweepstakes, whether the damages are direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential.

MISCELLANEOUS. The decisions made by ‘WCIU, The U,’ concerning any and all matters with respect to this promotion shall be final. In the event of a computer, telephone failure, or any other circumstances beyond the control of ‘WCIU, The U,’ where it becomes impracticable to award one or more prizes, ‘WCIU, The U,’ may, in its sole and absolute discretion, determine not to award any such Prize. This Sweepstakes is void where prohibited, penalized or otherwise restricted by law. A copy of these official Sweepstakes rules are available at the ‘WCIU, The U’ offices located at 26 N. If you wish to receive the names of Sweepstakes Prize winners, you must send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to ‘The Jolly Jam Gift Train – December 17, 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, IL 60661. ‘WCIU, The U’ must receive any request for the winners’ names no later than January 31, 2018.
