Court Cash Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”)
April 24 – May 24, 2017

SPONSOR: This Sweepstakes is sponsored by ‘WCIU, The U,’ whose corporate address is 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, Illinois 60661 (the "Sponsor").
ENTRY. A purchase is not required to enter or win one (1) of one hundred eighty-four (184) $100 cash prizes. The Sweepstakes begins Monday, April 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM and ends Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 4:59 PM “Sweepstakes Period” unless extended by ‘WCIU, The U.’ To participate, viewers must watch the Court Block weekdays beginning 1:00 PM through 4:59 PM during the Sweepstakes Period on ‘WCIU, The U’ for their chance to win. The Court Block comprises ‘The People’s Court’ at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM and ‘Judge Mathis’ at 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM CST. Eight (8) distinct Key Words will be shown during the four (4) total episodes of ‘The People’s Court’ and ‘Judge Mathis’ each weekday. One (1) Key Word will be shown in each half hour of the Court Block at any time within these eight (8) half hour periods: 1:00 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:00 PM, 2:30 PM, 3:00 PM, 3:30 PM, 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM. To enter the Sweepstakes, viewers must submit the Key Word(s) to the five digit short code via text message that is shown on air by the end of the half hour segment in which the specific Key Word aired. Viewers may submit Key Words for any and all of the eight (8) Key Words for their chance to win each weekday. Only one (1) entry per person, per Key Word, per day will be accepted. 184 winners will be selected during the Sweepstakes Period. There will be one (1) winner for each Key Word.
Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, illegible, misdirected or mutilated entries, including due to technical/network failures, human error, or any other error or malfunction. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void.
Entrants agree not to upload, post or transmit any materials which contain any computer viruses, Easter eggs, worms, Trojan Horses or other harmful component or programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or undermine the operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and Sponsor reserves the rights to seek damages from any person who makes such attempt(s).
Any questions regarding the number of entries submitted by an individual or authorized account holder of an e-mail address shall be determined by Weigel Broadcasting Co. in its sole discretion, and Weigel Broadcasting Co. reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Sweepstakes.
ELIGIBILITY. The Sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of Illinois who live in the Chicago DMA, as defined by Nielsen, and are age 18 years or older. Employees of ‘WCIU, The U,’ Weigel Broadcasting Co., their advertising agencies, consultants, franchisees, suppliers, (collectively, “Sweepstakes Parties”), family members are not eligible to enter or win. In addition, individuals who share a common household with an employee of a Sweepstakes Party or who are in any kind of domestic relationship or partnership with an employee of a Sweepstakes Party(e.g., boyfriends, girlfriends, fiancé, roommates, domestic partnerships) are not eligible to enter or win this Sweepstakes. Sponsor shall be the sole judge of what constitutes a domestic relationship or partnership in the event of a dispute. Viewers can enter for each of the one hundred and eighty-four (184) Key Words during the Sweepstakes Period.
PRIZES. One hundred and eighty-four (184) winners will win a $100 check, valued at $100. Odds of winning will be determined by the total number of eligible entries for each distinct Key Word. Once notified via a phone call to the phone number used to text the Key Word, the winners will have one (1) business day to claim their Prize. If a winner fails to claim their Prize, it will result in the forfeiture of the Prize and a new drawing may be held from the remaining eligible entries at the discretion of ‘WCIU, The U.’ Prize winners must possess a valid picture ID to claim their Prize. Prizes will be in a check available between six (6) to eight (8) weeks after the Prize is claimed. Prizes will be mailed to the winners’ address listed on their release form.
PRIZE RESTRICTIONS. These Prizes are non-transferable and are subject to all terms & conditions specified by Weigel Broadcasting Co. There will be no substitute or cash redemption awarded to any Sweepstakes winners. All prizes are a check made out to the winner and may not be cashed by the Prize provider. Checks may not be picked up in person. Prizes may be sent via US Mail or UPS at the expense of the Prize provider with the possibility of a signature required. All income and other taxes are the responsibility of the winners. By entering, the winners are consenting to the use of their name, likeness, and/or biographical information for advertising and promotional purposes without additional consideration.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY. Winners are responsible for income and other taxes on the Prizes. Winners will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability, and Letter of Indemnification within seven (7) business days of notification of being a winner. Prize winners must complete a W-9 form and submit a copy of a valid form of government issued identification. Failure to comply with the rules and conditions of the Sweepstakes may result in a forfeiture of Prize.
‘WCIU, The U’ and Sweepstakes Parties explicitly disclaim any and all warranties of any kind, including but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The Sponsor and/or Sweepstakes Parties shall not be liable or responsible for those guarantees or warranties made or offered by advertisers, partners, manufacturers or suppliers, including those related to the Prize. Under no circumstances shall the Sponsor and/or Sweepstakes Parties be held responsible or liable for use of the information and/or products supplied and/or made available through the promotion or for errors or anomalies resulting in the unintended or erroneous participation, award of any Prize or other benefits under the jurisdiction of these Sweepstakes rules.
The Sponsor and Sweepstakes Parties offer no assurances, warranties, or guarantees that the promotion in any media, including but not limited to on air, text/mobile phones and websites, will be uninterrupted or error-free and do not promise the accuracy or reliability of any information obtained through this Sweepstakes. The Sponsor and Sweepstakes Parties will not be liable, and are not responsible, for damages of any sort connected to participation in or inability/failure to participate in the sweepstakes, whether the damages are direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential.
MISCELLANEOUS. The decisions made by ‘WCIU, The U,’ concerning any and all matters with respect to this promotion shall be final. In the event of a computer, telephone failure, or any other circumstances beyond the control of ‘WCIU, The U,’ where it becomes impracticable to award one or more prizes, ‘WCIU, The U,’ may, in its sole and absolute discretion, determine not to award any such Prize. This Sweepstakes is void where prohibited, penalized or otherwise restricted by law. A copy of these official Sweepstakes rules are available at the ‘WCIU, The U’ offices located at 26 N. If you wish to receive the names of Sweepstakes Prize winners, you must send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to ‘Court Cash – May 17, 26 N. Halsted, Chicago, IL 60661. ‘WCIU, The U’ must receive any request for the winners’ names no later than November 20, 2017.

How do I sign up for these text messages? All you have to do is text a “keyword” you will see on WCIU, The U to 31996. (Up to 10 messages a month, message and data rates may apply, and you can always text HELP for help & STOP to cancel.)
Will I be charged for the text messages I receive? Our organization will never charge you for the text messages you receive. You may see some messaging rate charges from your mobile provider, though, so be sure to check your plan.
Privacy policy
Our organization is dedicated to protecting your privacy and work hard to ensure our website, and services are both safe and secure for our visitors, clients, and subscribers. Protection of Information Any information communicated to our organization for text messaging and or storage will remain in the ownership of the user, which will store securely in accordance with our security policy and the law. Our organization will take the necessary steps to secure your personal information with safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Our organization will, at no time, rent or redistribute this information without your consent, except where legally required to do so.
Subscribing and Unsubscribing
It is policy that just as a user must opt in to a text marketing list, they have the right to opt out of a particular text marketing list as well. When a user opts out of a text marketing list, they will no longer receive any texts unless they, themselves, re-subscribe.
Limits On Our Abilities
Even though your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, due to standing legalities, we can't promise that personally information will not be divulged to third parties in ways not explained by this privacy policy. Furthermore, we can (and you give us permission to) divulge any information about you to private entities, law enforcement or other government officials, as we, in our sole vigilance, believe needed to address and/or answer questions or resolve problems. Our organization reserves the right to change this privacy policy at its discretion. Your continued use of this services after changes to this privacy policy has been posted is taken as acceptance of those changes. It is your responsibility to monitor the privacy policy to determine whether any changes have been made. This privacy policy is subject to and applicable to all privacy laws.
